Celebrating 60 Years

On April 1, 1964, Patrick Healey’s father, Bill Healey, and his uncle, Robert Healey Sr., bought Peterson-Viking Builders, a small, struggling New Jersey builder of 37-foot, wooden sportfishing boats. Sixty years later, Viking Yachts spans eight companies spread between New Jersey and Florida.

In a remarkable celebration of craftsmanship, innovation, and a six-decade legacy of boat building, Viking Yachts proudly commemorates its 60th anniversary today. Since opening its doors 60 years ago, Viking has set the standard in the yachting industry, continuously pushing the boundaries of performance, luxury, and fishing capabilities. Today, we honor this legacy by unveiling our latest marvel, the 82' Viking, a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation.

Considering many small businesses don’t survive more than their first year, seeing Viking Yachts celebrating 60 years is pretty remarkable. The famed sportfishing builder is toasting its past while simultaneously using its anniversary to reveal a new model.

The Viking Yacht Company has been building a better boat every day for 60 years. Founded by brothers Bill and Bob Healey on April 1, 1964, Viking climbed the marine industry mountain and has been at its peak for decades now, unwilling to relinquish the throne as the industry's best boatbuilder.

Of course, it wasn't always this way. Nothing rarely is. Greatness doesn't often start out great. Viking Yachts, now celebrating its 60th year in business, invested a ton of blood and sweat equity to summit the proverbial top of the luxury boat builder's mountain.
