72 Demo 7/20/2018
Poised to make her mark on the tournament trail, our stunning Flag Blue Viking 72 demonstrator boat leaves New Gretna and heads for open water. The 45-plus-knot convertible along with our Viking 68 demo will compete in about a half dozen events this summer in the Mid-Atlantic region, the epicenter of white marlin fishing. The boats, with teams that include many of the company's principals, function as engineering, design, sales and customer service tools that help Viking build a better boat every day.

The Viking 72 demo serves as a testing platform for innovative technologies, such as Furuno’s new DFF-3D Multi-Beam Sonar and AX Series Radar, which were custom installed on the flybridge by our subsidiary Atlantic Marine Electronics. The equipment is housed in our signature center console walk-around helm. Another Viking-owned company, Palm Beach Towers, is responsible for the hardtop (including its drop-down electronics box and teaser reels) and anodized aluminum tuna tower.

From the transom live well to the air-conditioned observation mezzanine, the 209-square-foot cockpit provides not only tournament-winning fishing equipment and design elements but conveniences to keep guests comfortable and happy as they take in the action. Just a few of the features on our demo boat include an optional Release Marine Trillion Series fighting chair; a teak sole, covering boards and coaming; a starboard crushed ice machine with discharge; and fittings and plumbing for two on-deck live wells.

Satin walnut adorns the 72's interior. The port-side galley has miles of countertop space and two Sub-Zero pull-out under-counter refrigerators and one freezer. The raised starboard dinette seats four comfortably. The second HD TV on the bulkhead can display sonar, radar and other electronics data from the bridge.

Your private palace, the master stateroom includes a king bed with Handcraft mattress and underneath storage, twin maple-lined hanging closets, a pair of credenzas and end tables and an upholstered full-width headboard.

Twin 2,635-hp MTU Series 2000 V16 M96L diesels power the 72, not only giving her great speed but the acceleration and torque to make this 72-footer handle and feel like a 50-footer. With such high performance, the demo team can travel long distances faster than competitors, a great advantage when fishing the Mid-Atlantic.
